2-minAt Little Squigglers Peterborough we love exploring and creating with playdough. I always use ‘homemade’ playdough so I can make it coloured, textured and scented to fit with weekly themes.

This week in sessions we explored the Gruffalo’s Child by Julia Donaldson. I wanted to make a ‘Snow dough’ which was soft, white and that I could add glitter to.

I prefer to use no cook recipes for making dough, so I don’t need to stand and stir it while it is on the hob. Little Squigglers Peterborough HQ is too busy for standing by the hob! I used the following recipe to make my snow dough:

2 cups of cornflour

1 cup of salt

2 tbsp cream of tartar

2 cups of boiling water

Sprinkles of silver glitter

  1. Measure and add all dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix and add oil.
  3. Pour water in and mix using a spoon.
  4. Once mixed, leave mixture until it is cool enough to put your hands in.
  5. Knead mixture until it is smooth and soft.
  6. Add glitter.

Making ‘snow dough’ couldn’t be easier! Why not adapt the recipe? Step 6 of the recipe is where you can add scents, or texture to your dough. I would love to see pictures of your dough, creations you have made with your dough and ideas for adding to the recipe 😊
